August 3, 2017-- With the passage of the RI state budget, RI Promise becomes law. The plan enables eligible Rhode Island students to attend the Community College of Rhode Island tuition-free for two years.
This makes RI the 4th state in the nation to offer free community college to eligible residents.
All RI high school students beginning with 2017 graduates can pursue an associate degree at the Community College of Rhode Island tuition free for two years, regardless of their family income. Students need to go through the admissions process and be enrolled full-time.
