Providence, RI--On February 17, 2017, Dr. Frank D. Sánchez was installed as the 10th President of Rhode Island College. Dr. Sánchez came to RIC in July 2016 from the City University of New York (CUNY), where he was Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs across the 24-college system. He has over 20 years of experience in higher education working to advance student success and degree completion, especially for low-income and first-generation students.
Numerous federal, state, local, and college dignitaries attended the installation ceremony. In his remarks, Chair of the Council on Postsecondary Education Bill Foulkes spoke of President Sánchez as "an exceptional and talented new leader," whose "reverence for higher education" makes him uniquely suited to lead the Rhode Island College community.
The installation ceremony culminated a week-long inaugural celebration, that included interactive workshops, panel discussions, and showcases of student work and performances.
